Environment / Natural environment:
A WARM CLIMATE AND LIGHT

The Charente region benefits from the influence of the ocean: the winters are mild and the summers are temperate. The average temperature in 1999 for the region was 12.2°C. For that same year the meteorological station in Cognac recorded 851 mm of rainfall and 1886 hours of sunlight.

"The light of the Charente is unequalled in France, even in Provence. It cannot be translated into words. Everywhere, an ineffable something bathes all nature."
Jacques Chardonne.

Many authors and poets have sung its praises; this pure light is the common link of this region that possesses so many varied landscapes.
