Within
the framework of globalization and with the commercial
domination of the USA in the fields of the cinema and
audio-visuals, maintaining and developing our own individual
culture (that is now showing signs of widely welcomed
creativity), allow, together with other aids, to compensate
for the relative narrowness of our basic markets. Our
cinema, with the aid of the CNC,
was able to consolidate its presence on the world market
in 2001, which was a very satisfactory year.
EUROPEAN
FUNDS
The
MEDIA programme
provides for various schemes that are held up
at the moment as the documents have not yet been
drawn up.
Selective
aid for cinema distribution
is an aid for European distributors on launching
a non-national European film.
Participation
is a maximum of 50% of the costs, partly reimbursable.
Europe
also makes requests for tenders on specific projects

“Centre National du Cinéma”
(C.N.C) attributes
a variety of aids not only for production, but
also for distribution in the fields of cinema,
audio-visual, multimedia and new technologies. Selective

As
regards research, there is a programme called RIAM (Research and
Innovation in AV and Multimedia).
The objective of this network is to encourage partnerships
between public research laboratories and businesses
and to represent an efficient link in financial
aid for new technologies. The research perimeters
of the RIAM network include sociologists, economists,
jurists and creators. RIAM was created to facilitate
the circulation of information and the creation
of partnerships. For 2001 RIAM has a budget of 20
million EUROS.
In
multimedia, the CNC has
developed a specific program DICREAM(Multimedia artistic
creation development tool). It
is a fund that offers three types of assistance:
