Make wood energy competitive
The financial studies
are only carried out using known economic parameters,
such as the cost of energy, the cost of manpower and
prices of materials. The
investment of automated wood heating is 2.5 to 3 times
more expensive than a traditional oil or gas system,
due notably to the low level of economies of scale available
from such a small market and the type of installation. These
studies do not take into account external elements such
as CO², or greenhouse gas emissions. According
to studies by Yves Martin (Rio conference), the tax applied
to these sorts of emissions should be around 20€
per tonne of CO² produced; which would increase the
price of reference energies by some 15%.
