| As
the birthplace of the French paper industry in the19th
century, the Charente
also became home to felt factories, which set up near
Angoulême, since felt was an essential factor in
paper production. Later, the textile and clothing industry
saw great development, and especially the production of
the famous "Charentaise" slippers. Since it
is exposed to new market conditions, this sector of business
will now have to adapt and restructure its activity in
order to increase. |
