Specialised Poles / Cognac / Pineau des Charentes :
PINEAU DES CHARENTES
Pineau de Charentes is obtained by mixing white or red grape juice with Cognac eau de vie. Cognac eau de vie and grape juice must come from the same property. After several years of ageing in oak casks, Pineau de Charentes acquires a perfect balance.

According to the grape varieties, one obtains either white or rosé Pineau. Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, Colombard, Sémillion, Sauvignon and Montils give Pineau its rich floral notes.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, Merlot and Malbec provide the fruity nectar of Pineau des Charentes Rosé.

Appreciated chilled as an aperitif, Pineau Des Charentes is much appreciated in gastronomy throughout a meal with the finest of foods.

The National Pineau Des Charentes Committee, created in 1949, was created to defend the common interests of producers and merchants in terms of :
production promotion commercialisation

Administrated by a Permanent Office comprising 24 members made up of 12 wine growers and 12 wine merchants appointed by their respective unions, the National Committee for Pineau des Charentes is chaired alternately for a three-year period by a wine grower’s representative or by one from the wine merchants.

Approximately 14.8 million bottles of Pineau des Charentes are sold each year. This figure includes over 11 million for the French market and 3.7 million bottles exported mainly to Belgium (2.9 millions bottles) and Canada.
