THE CHARENTE ON THE EUROPEAN NORTH-SOUTH AXIS
The European network of high speed trains puts Angoulême in a very good position on the North-South line joining North European towns with those of the Iberian peninsula.
The important role played by this line and the TGV have led to a significant increase in freight and passengers over the last 10 years.
In 2013, the Sud Europe Atlantique High-Speed Rail Link will place Angoulême at 35 minutes from Bordeaux and at 1 hour and 45 minutes from Paris by 2016.
In the near future the capital of Charente will be 4h30 from Brussels and Strasbourg by rail.
